Mikalee Byerman (which rhymes with “prickly fireman,” though she claims to be neither grumpy nor particularly adept at fire suppression) holds a Master of Arts in Journalism from the Reynold’s School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she also taught undergraduate journalism and speech communication courses. Byerman has been writing in the education and healthcare space for almost three decades. Over the course of her career, she has bylined more than 200 articles. Her writing has been featured in Ladies’ Home Journal, Southwest Spirit Magazine, and Alaska Airlines Magazine, as well as on the Huffington Post. Byerman is a ghostwriter, editor, marketing coach, humor strategist, keynote speaker, and author of the best-selling regional travel guide, “100 Things to Do in Reno Before You Die.” She was twice voted “Best Local Author” in the Best of Nevada awards; she also held the “Best Creative Writer” designation.
